This started as a comment on sholio's post about part 3 of The Promise. (spoilers). It ended up...this.

Man, I wrote a lot of words about this. I'd better stop now.

I've never done this exchange before, and am really super nervous, as my sexual orientation is "asexual with a romantic preference for ladies that I have limited experience with in real life." The kinds of things I have strong feelings for aren't necessarily romantic (hand-holding! sharing a bed! sharing food! cuddles!--*will edit signup to offer Aoi Hana after posting this, as I can't believe I FORGOT*), and in my writing I never know if I've shipped people or not. Also, while I write all kinds of kinky fic, I write porn only slightly better than I write maps. D:

After a re-read of Azumanga Daioh I find myself craving (Kagura)&/Osaka&/Tomo. Or Tomo roleplaying as Fujiko Mine. Which is kind of silly, as my memories of Lupin III are vague as hell and almost none of them involve Fujiko except as a name Lupin mentioned a lot. (Luckily, Fujiko has her own anime now!)

Also, for anyone so inclined, my AIM chat name is terajk (boring, I know)

....Maka and Katara would have a really fun....interaction, I guess? (Okay, okay, I would ship them.*)

They're both badass! They're both insecure about their own abilities at some point in time and work through it! (Katara being jealous/frustrated that Aang learns waterbending moves so easily; Maka feeling like she's not as strong as Black*Star or Kid) and angry with their fathers! They both get a lot of fandom hate/dislike for being female protagonists teenage girls angry sometimes as imperfect as the fandom darlings bitches! I am insecure about writing them both!

Actually, one reason I have trouble writing them both is because of the hate they get. Because I love that they get angry and frustrated and make mistakes! (And tbh, I can't think of any characters who never make mistakes, ever--hell, even local Joan Watson ( Elementary spoilers )

And I'm like: "But how do I write them doing these things--which darling dudes do, too, btw--without them looking like Bad People? And then I chicken out.


*And I would ship them with/have them talk to Hermione Granger from Harry Potter.

Writing the story of the friendship between a sexy cat-monster and an asexual* god of death is actually really hard. (I mean, they have SO MANY COMMON INTERESTS.) I can't imagine it working without some degree of snark on both sides; the cat-monster's snark is gentler/ more playful than anyone else's in the cast would be, but I keep being afraid of breaking her.

ETA: While I usually don't associate songs with specific characters, their friendship has a song!

This was supposed to be the Epic (for Me) Story of How Azula and Toph Found Ursa. No, really. It was supposed to be 6,000 words. But it ended up being 3,000 words of Feelings and fistfights, because I don't even know how to find my own mother at the grocery store. And then I tried to have them find a MacGuffin Ursa's guqin, which was somehow in the Bei Fongs' possession so they had to rob Toph's own parents. (One of the things lizbee asked for was Azula as the Blue Spirit.) But then that was stupid: why wouldn't Toph's parents just give it to her?

I love Mai, and her relationship with Azula fascinates me. However, Mai is also hard for me to write. (In the series, both Mai and Ty Lee have facial expressions that I tend to miss). I also love drabbles, especially for things I'm not confident writing. (If it's terrible, at least it's over soon.) I wasn't sure about this one, since pleonasm asked specifically for no cuckolding, and I...wasn't sure if this came across as cuckolding. In my head, Zuko's okay with it (local Gaang are all various shades of poly, just because it's more fun that way, and also, Katara can be with Mai and Toph at the same time), but wouldn't have understood that they were flirting.

On the one hand, I'm very proud of this drawing, because I've never drawn an Anime Shock Face before, even with a model. But on the other hand....I've never drawn an Anime Shock Face before. I also learn something new with every drawing. This one's lesson was: 'Tis better to draw the white lines in Kid's hair in the coloring phase than in the sketching phase, you goofus."

Speaking of which, there was supposed to be a panel where they were like, "We're a god and a demon hammer. LET'S FIRE THIS DAY FOREVER AND HAVE TEA," but by that point I hated Kid's hair and vowed never to draw it again. *facepalm.*
