Stein is certainly not the only character in manga who has obsessive thoughts about harming others and suffers from hallucinations yet is still a big damn hero, but he's one of the best-written ones out there.
YES! Being as well-written as he is, I was REALLY intimidated about writing an analysis of him. I love him! But he's...complicated :D
I'd wanted to compare his obsessions with Kid's directly--even though Stein's obsessions are violent, it feels like Ohkubo/the universe considers them just another obsession--but I got lazy/couldn't figure out where to put it.
And I LOVE that, that *all* the disabled characters (even the Big(ger) Bad--are just *there,* and everyone mostly gets along without any Special Lessons in Tolerance, and Ohkubo doesn't make a big deal out of them being Disabled Characters (tm).
