There are many, many costumes and outfits in Avatar: The Last Airbender: it is, after all, a show about a worldwide war. Each nation has its own fashions and customs, and its own armor. But for my dressup picspam, I thought I'd focus on someone who's particularly fond of (dare I say kinky about?) dressing up:

This is Sokka of the Water Tribe; he and his sister Katara are traveling around with the Avatar, a twelve-year-old boy who's the only hope of saving the world. (Katara and Sokka aren't much older). Katara can control water as a martial art, and for healing ("waterbending"); Sokka cannot. Does his inability to waterbend have anything to do with his love of outfits? Possibly.

Although he's not a bender, Sokka still fights. He uses a boomerang, a spear, and eventually, a sword. Here he's training with Suki, the leader of a band of female warriors on Kyoshi Island. He isn't sure about wearing a woman's uniform, but he still has fun.

Aside from fighting, Sokka is very clever. He loves coming up with elaborate plans, inventions...and disguises. When confronted by guards, he and Katara escape by pretending he has a disease called Pentapox. It was her plan, but he runs with it....or, you know, shuffles painfully:

When Avatar Aanginfiltrates enrolls in a Fire Nation school, Sokka and Katara dress up as his parents. As the headmaster tells them to punish their "son," Sokka has fun playing Angry Dad. (How much fun? See that white stuff about to land on Aang's cheek? That's spittle):

In fact, he has so much fun that he keeps it up after they get home,

and even sends the Avatar to his room.

Sokka seems to enjoy wearing beards. He's sporting one while helping Toph scam a rich guy driving a cart.

As a (younger) boy, Sokka was disappointed that he couldn't go off to war with his father, and he still wants to prove to his dad that he's a good warrior. When he flubs up a speech about his plan to invade the Fire Nation (in front of his father), he looks apologetically at a Water Tribe warrior's helmet.

Always thinking of his fellow soldiers, he designed armor for the team's flying bison, Appa:

Perhaps beards appeal to Sokka because they represent an adult maleness he aspires to. Or maybe they're just funny:

He doesn't need to be in danger to try on a disguise. Helping Aang talk about his stress calls for a special outfit:

So does solving the mystery of a crime Aang may have committed in a past life:

At one point, our heroes are getting ready tocrash attend the Earth King's party. Sokka and Aang practice acting like high society folk, while wearing...capes? Curtains?

Then they start bowing, and then they get into a competition of who can bow better:

(An aside: while Aang and Sokka are competing to see who can better infiltrate the king's party, antagonists Prince Zuko and Princess Azula are competing to see who can better infiltrate the kingdom. Although, to be fair, Zuko may just be trying to hide out).
For someone so enamored of dressing up--to learn new skills, compete with friends, or be other people--how does Sokka see himself? Here's a self-portrait (with bonus Suki):

Notice how happy he looks to be fighting, especially in contrast to Suki's determined expression. And does his hair look like a crown? I think so.
