I feel totally inadequate in terms of being able to praise this because IT IS PERFECT

I really love the way that you kept the violence "offscreen"/implied and how leaving bits and pieces of the story implied rather than described makes them so much more ominous than they would be otherwise. The opening with the text messages from Black Star is the perfect set-up. I love the way that you narrate from Patti's point of view. And I love the way that Patti is focusing in on a mundane detail like the sign outside the movie theater and how everything horrible that's happening around her is framed by her thoughts about it. That's perfect Stephen King style right there.

I think I used the word "perfect" too many times in this comment.

But really this is perfect.
