Tamaki Suoh and Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga are competing for Akane Tendo's attention. Why would either character be interested in Akane, and who will win her over?
Tamaki is interested in Akane because she's a) a girl and b) heir to/running the Tendo Dojo, which Honey and Mori say is kind of a big deal. Akane is pretty used to rich, self-important people trying to win her over, so she's just like, "Pffft. Whatever." But she'd probably yell at him and then he'd grow mushrooms in her closet.
As for Osaka, she meets Akane on the train; Akane's playing her Game Boy (when she'swaiting on Ryoga to come back from somewhere not teaching at the dojo, she writes reviews of Gameboy RPGs. So, by way of an ice-breaking question, Osaka asks: "If Ninja Ryukenden is called Ninja Gaiden in America, what's the main story it's a spin-off of?" (They both know the real answer is that Americans are stupid, but they have fun with it and make up this whole thing about how the actual star of the story is the ninja's wife who's the bodyguard of some princess or other and is way too important to play around with Nostradamus cults in the United States. Or maybe she sent him to the store and the Nostradamus cults were on the way. (Osaka likes this better; it means he's doing all this jumping and grappling onto walls and stuff without spilling anything.)
After a long, slow burn of talking about language and picnics, Akane realizes she's in love.

Haruhi Fujioka, Sokka, and Death the Kid have formed a band and are set to make an performance on a television music show. What kind of music do they play, and what would happen?
The whole thing would be Renge's idea (Kyoya and his clipboard would approve). She and Death, Sr. are TOTAL OTAKU BFFS, OMG. (They have the best anime cons in Death City, I'm sure.) She'd rather ask him to be in this band, but not being able to leave the city kind of puts a damper on their world tour. And Death, Sr. is all: "I don't just give people my son" and she's all, "But this is a boy band!" and he's all: "♥!" *thumbs-up*
Meanwhile, Tamaki is absolutely sure he'll be the lead singer, as it is his duty to share his beauty with the universe. And Renge will be like: "Ew, no. Our lead singer will be mysterious and angsty and NOT A BIG PHONY. Plus, he has your voice exactly," and Tamaki is like: "WHAT." And Kyoya's all: "We were going to have you sing for Haruhi, but now it would be like harmonizing with yourself and that would just be odd." And Tamaki is like: "WHAT."
Of course, Sokka is Renge's other BFF. (They cosplay together now and then.) He'll write all the lyrics, and after MUCH coaxing from Black Star, maybe Soul will lend his musical talent. ("Dude, Kid is in a boy band! We could make fun of him for YEARS and not run out of material!") And because Kid is Kid, he can be the lead singer and choreograph all their dances AND play the drums. Hikaru and Kaoru approve; it hides the fact that he dresses like a damned mortician. Haruhi is highly annoyed, as xe doesn't even want to do this but if xe had to, xe'd be the drummer because xe can't sing. ("You rich bastard!")
That's the story of their band in a nutshell, which is probably named after some obscure eroge with a vampire in it. (Maybe their band name actually is Some Obscure Eroge With a Vampire in It.) Kid and Sokka would fight all the time ("These lyrics are completely asinine! How many words are you going to rhyme with your own name?") and be REALLY popular in spite of themselves. (Meanwhile, Haruhi is good friends with Liz and Patti; also, Maka and Katara are friends, too.)
As for their television appearance, I have a feeling it will end in tears and bloodshed--not least of all because Sokka and Kid refuse to perform and Haruhi HAS TO SING. Which may just make all the girls love zir more.
