I think
nenena's birthday present (which is no longer her birthday present, I guess) has passed through an "Oh, God why did I even attempt to write this story, I have no idea how to write an adventure and I picked the wrong villains, their culture is vague as shit and even their canon admits that it is really, really weird they could get away with their villainy for this long and also this story is just stupid" phase.
Now it's in a phase where I want to fill out their...culture in detail. During a canon review I realized they may not use a Gregorian calendar, and may have different senses of what a "really long time" is. Also, I bet they can take cars apart and make stuff from the scrap metal. (Which may partly explain why they've done their thing for this long and not been caught. Canon gives a supernatural explanation, but I like lots of factors, OK?)
Of course, it's entirely possible that once I start thinking deeply about these and other things I'll realize how implausible their canon is. Also, I will have to read lots and lots of things--including something I'm reading now, which I am kind of embarrassed I haven't read before.
"But Tera," you say, "why use these villains if they are such a pain? Just make some up out of whole cloth! You're using OCs anyhow!"
Because these villains have a special place in my heart, as they are from my home state and nothing happens here, ever. I guess I could still make up some villains and have them be from, say, the city I live in, but I am fond of these villains. They were an important part of my adolescence, when a good friend said, "You've lived here your whole life and never seen this movie?" (Maybe they'd protect us from the zombie apocalypse? Or maybe they'd be really, really screwed.)
But I'm shooting for 10,000 words (eep I have never written anything even 1500 words long), and I promise not to give up. Until I have a draft, at least.
Although, unlike a Good Disabled Person I am a huge quitter so this will be very hard. But I WILL DO IT. (This means, of course, that I will write
nenena another, actual birthday present. *ponders*)

Give me a fandom and at least one other thing (prompt, kink, pairing, color, whatever) and I will attempt to write you a one sentence fic.

Date: 2012-12-22 04:03 pm (UTC)I am just dying of curiosity because I still have no idea what this canon that you're referring to could possibly be.
(Uh you may figure it out now?)
They are très unimpressed with Kid. Real gods* don't need to announce that they are gods, and are also taller.
*Is their god a real god? I'd always thought he was, but that's because I'd never read the thing I am embarrassed about not having read. (I know you've read this thing. And the other major work this guy appears in, which I'm embarrassed not to have read, either.) But I know him from the Miniseries of the Thing I'm Now Reading--he was a highlight--and also the Thing Nobody Likes Because it's Different and always liked hating him....enough that, when I learned that this dude was also connected to these villains I was like "Hell, yes!" He'll be much fun to play with, I think--although he'll require lots more reading to play with properly. And I always wanted to pit Kid against a proper force of chaos. (I guess Asura should count but he is technically a force of madness and anime!Asura at least is trying to help people.)
