Feb. 18th, 2013 04:14 pm Self, the reason you are able to write fanfic and finish it (to the extent that you are able to write fanfic) is not because you associate it with a school-like assignment. It's probably because you:
(Other things I've learned: If you spend the week going to a kids' movie every day, you end up with a kids' illness. It was totally worth it, though XD).
- are now an adult and can do things you couldn't do as a kid
- are writing in settings where you and the audience already know the characters and story
- can write 100-1000 words of dialogue/character study/nothing resembling a plot and get away with it (which probably means the Toph-Azula thing is out of your zone of proximal development for now, and that's ok).

Yay, cheerleading! I bought me a shiny new paper notebook--I can shut off internal editing/criticism better if I write on paper--and will take a couple of hours a day to go to the coffee shop and write.
