Dear Festividder
Oct. 10th, 2013 08:36 pmDear Festividder,
This is my first year participating in
festivids, and I’m excited! I had a really hard time writing this letter, though. I love all these fandoms, but don’t know what to request because I’d rather see what you did with them.
In regards to music, the genres I’m most familiar with are country & western and oldies, but for most of these fandoms I have no preference. (And the exception is just that..a preference.) Have fun!
Cabin Fever film series (2002)
Music: Any
Details: I saw the first “Cabin Fever” right after graduating from college. The story is about…a bunch of people who graduate from college, go out into the world (literally), and what kills them isn’t a person, but the world itself. (It was very comforting to me.)
Child’s Play aka Chucky series
Music: Any
Details: I really love this series, whether straight horror, extremely dark comedy or anything in between. I love Andy, and Kyle from 2, and Tyler from 3, and Tiffany and Glen(da) and of course, Chucky, that jerkass. The ubiquitousness of Good Guys—with the cartoon and the cereal and the pajamas and the tool set, etc., etc., etc.—makes me nostalgic for my childhood.
Dolls (1987)
Music: Any
Details: I saw the trailer for this when I was 7; the bit where the dolls’ faces pop off scared me to death. (I loved it). There’s something sweet and magical about this movie, even with all the gore. It’s fairy-taley in a way a lot of movies about killer dolls aren’t.
Freeway (1996)
Music: Any
Details: This movie is hilarious! (Even my parents laughed all the way through). I love Vanessa, and Bob Wolverton is wonderfully creepy, and just…THIS MOVIE!
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Music: I’d love a period-appropriate song for this!
Details: Oh, man, this movie! I love Tiana and Naveen and Lottie and Dr. Facilier and Mama Odie and Ray the firelfy and EVERYBODY!
Sinister (2012)
Music: Any
Details: I saw this at the dollar theater and it really stuck with me. I dunno…maybe something meta, considering the way the demon is summoned?
Willard (2003)
Music: Any
Details: I love how Crispin Glover acts like a rat in human form, and the rats themselves (even when they’re eating people). Especially Ben! And Willard’s messed-up relationships with, like, everyone.
