2. The queer_fest fic is well within the minimum word count! It is also not finished, which means it’s entered the Stephen King home stretch phase--the one where I’m like: “Come on! Be over already! Can I kill everyone off/blow something up/reveal that someone is actually a giant spider?”** Considering that Stephen King usually hits this point after 800 pages and this fic isn’t quite 1500 words long, this is hilarious.
3. Relatedly, I think my long-term fic-writing goal is to write something over 1500 words that doesn’t need any “ ***”. I really need to learn how to write something where multiple things happen but they’re connected together and time sort of...exists? I feel better having realized that Carrie was written with many metaphorical "***". And then I remember I liked the movie better, partly because it wasn’t.
*This is actually unfair. I really just mean the ones that are at least 500 pages long.
**Note: The giant spider reveal is awfully tempting.
