1. What's your favorite thing about Zuko?
His amazing people skills! (For, you know, certain definitions of "amazing"). I love how he practices asking to join Team Avatar before he does it (I do things like this). And even though his amazing people skills are overshadowed by Azula's in "The Beach," they are still in evidence. I love how, even when Mai is telling him exactly what she wants him to do, he's like, "And you're telling me this because...?"
2. What fic that you wrote this year (so far) surprised you the most?
Rewind (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Homura/Madoka, graphic depictions of violence, major character death) I wrote this pretty much immediately after seeing episode 10, which was the latest ep at the time, for![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
yuri_challenge. (I'd actually only found out about the series through that challenge, too). I was really angry with (rot13) Xlhhorl when I wrote it, and would write hir differently now--partly because the later episodes give extra insight into hir personality. It was also my first time writing romance, which, since I'm me, involved cuddling in the park ;-). It's also one of the more popular things I've written, and continues to get bookmarks/kudos long after the challenge ended.
3. What do you do when you've had a bad day & just need to pamper yourself?
Sometimes I watch bad horror movies--the worse, the better. I also like chocolate. And noodles.
4. What kind of weather do you like the best?
Warm weather, because I can go for walks! In my twenties I started being able to find my way around my neighborhood, and there's a library near my house. There's lots of manga there, because my library is the best library ever.
5. What are some of your favorite books?
Ranma 1/2 is a book, right? :D I wrote about some of the reasons I love the series here. (May also explain my previous answer).
I also like The Ruins by Scott Smith. It has problems--most notably, it's a Clueless White People story: white people invade the culture of people of color, screw around with something they shouldn't screw around with, then unleash horror upon themselves while the people of color are in the background. But it's very tightly-written (and scary!). Plus, I am a sucker for...that kind of antagonist ;-)
