And I sort of, um, guessed it was them through exploiting an AO3 bug which lists even fandoms with anonymous stories under your profile. I saw they'd written one Noah's Arc story, and there were two in the challenge. Now, I could've been wrong, but, well...

livrelibre...did not exactly ask for this fandom? While poking around her journal I found out that she thought of nominating it but had to leave it off her final list, even though she was epically sad there was no fandom for it. So I kicked myself in the ass for not nominating Ga-Rei: Zero myself ("Surely no one would make me anything about badass femslashy exorcists with spirit beasts in their swords!"), then made her all the icons--including several of Yomi and Kagura playing Yomi's Dreamcast box.

I'd put Chak De! India in my Netflix queue because of littlebutfierce's promotion post. I read hir Doer of Darkness letter when the movie arrived, poised to Pay Attention to Komal, since that's who xe'd asked for. (littlebutfierce has excellent taste--Komal is AWESOME). Then I went to the coffee shop to work on my assigned story and Komal wanted me to write about hir instead :D (Trivia!: This is the very first story I'd ever worked with a beta on! troisroyaumes's comments were EXTREMELY helpful, I can't even tell you, internet.

sqbr wanted something about Kyoko and Moko's friendship, and I...read the first volume of the manga a while ago? (uh...) So I watched the anime (oh, God, you guys, Kyoko is adorable), got to episode 12 and went, "Look at their FAAAACES!" Then I was like, "sqbr is an artist and she'll know I'm a total iconing noob!" and my brain went, "But...FAAAAAACES!"

This came up as a last-minute pinch-hit. I was entirely unfamiliar with Aoi Hana, but there was an 11-episode anime so I mainlined it and OH MY GAWD THESE LADIES THEY ARE ADORABLE TOGETHER. Also, there is canonical handholding and cuddling OMG. By the time I claimed the pinch-hit, someone had claimed it first. That worked out better for everyone; canis_m got two stories and I got to write a tiny Treat.

Also heeee I love Aoi Hana -- I actually offered it as a fandom but then kind of regretted it b/c I didn't know if I would feel like I could write it, so I didn't pick up those pinch hits. But I really enjoyed it when I saw it. Have you seen/read Hourou Musuko (same mangaka, about trans kids)?

No, but I totally should because that sounds FABULOUS. I'd like to read the Aoi Hana manga, too; the anime leaves the "Will they or won't they?" of Fumi and Akira's relationship unresolved, and I hear the manga contains confessions of love and dating :D

Oh! Also! I read a fic called Don't Want to Know What I'll Be Without You by kyuuketsukirui, where Akira is asexual and romantically attracted to Fumi. It became my headcannon. (I'm asexual, and one of the reasons I fell in love with the series is the romantic-but-not-necessarily-sexual nature of Akira and Fumi's relationship. It's the kind of relationship I can see myself in).
