After reading How Do You Write So Fast? by [personal profile] synecdochic, I've been practicing turning off my inner editor and just writing to word goals. This way I can write 200 words a half hour, and they are not the most horrible words ever. Gaze upon all I have accomplished, Internet!

Assignment the First: Rough draft, baby! (1050 words). Needs lots of fixing, but...draft!

Assignment the Second: 375 words

Treat the Only (so far): Rough draft!

Assignment the Second has more scenes than the others and is structured in a funny way--which means I don't know what comes next. (Although the funny structure could help move it along, at least for a draft).

I also use Ommwriter, a full-screen text editor that makes clicky noises when I type. (I'm a very auditory person; the clicky noises are an impetus to type more words).

Ooh, I might try that out - and thanks for linking me to [personal profile] synecdochic's post! I have a serious overediting problem - tied into depression and anxiety, so my brain doesn't just do "this sentence sucks and you should not write any more until it is perfect" but also "this sentence sucks and everything you write sucks and nobody will ever want to read it because you are terrible and why do you bother", which makes writing a little bit difficult. It's possible that trying to shut off my inner editor for small half-hourly goals, and possibly also that ommwriter thing, might help.
