At this point, there are two ways Assignment the Second could go: the Easy Way and the Cracktastic Way.The latter ruins my last shred of anonymity, although it is closer to my heart and the request. It also involves more people, effort (since I take my crack seriously), and, probably, words. It's not even that cracktastic, really--at least not in the "Characters A and B are in the same place" way. Yet, that is the thing my brain wants to make sure makes sense. Which means that Character A keeps interacting with other people before they even get to be in the same place as Character B, which gives everyone the opportunity to ACT LIKE A JERK.
To put it another way:
[Leland Palmer, Laura Palmer] and [Sarah Palmer] are in [the Black Lodge]. [Agent Dale Cooper] can go anywhere he damn pleases, including [the Black Lodge]. He speaks with [Leland Palmer] and [Sarah Palmer] on a regular basis. He does not need to argue with [Audrey Horne] and [Albert Rosenfield] about going to [the Black Lodge].
So now I can concentrate on the actual cracktastic bit. This is, however, the part that takes all the damn work. And my natural tendency, when faced with a lot of work, is to cut stuff out/lower my expectations/do whatever will make less work. My inner HP Lovecraft is like: "Can we just avoid doing [one of the things we'd rather avoid doing]? We'd be vindicated by [something the Avatarverse does not have]."
So the solution to Assignment the Second is to a) stop being lazy and b) make it easier to do the things I'd rather avoid doing. Some of the problem is that my brain wants something highly technical which I may have to make for it. Some of it is cultural. Some of it may be impairment-related on my part. A lot of it is fear of doing everything wrong, screwing up people's New Year, etc.
