"Bye, kids! Have fun!" Shinigami-sama waves into the mirror. Then: "You can come out now."
"I know how to hide, Reaper." The Kishin is already out from under the table, sitting in his chair again. "Are you sure you should've mentioned his Sanzu lines out of nowhere like that? I don't think he likes them."
"Tell me again, Asura: exactly how many children did you raise?"
"Don't you know? A bag of your own skin is a wonderful place to raise a family." He shrugs. "It's just funny how your brand of help is still stupid after 800 years. Or did you forget how 'let's help Asura get over his fear of people by forcing him to be around them' worked out?"
"Nice job taking responsibility for your actions," Shinigami-sama says. "No wonder you embrace madness."
"I like my work." Asura sips his drink. "And so must you, running a school for centuries. Don't I get a thank-you?"
"You drank all my weapon's beer. What more do you want?"
"Actually," Asura says, "it would be nice if I could do my job without all these people talking to me all the time. Especially that kid with the headphones: 'O, great and powerful Kishin! Blah, blah, blah.' Leave me alone, already."
Shinigami-sama chuckles."You never did like strangers, did you?"
"Or idiots. I make an exception for you."
"Same here."
"Well," says Asura, standing up, "it's been fun watching you traumatize your child--again--but I'd better be going. I can only stand your soul wavelength for so long. I feel so...rational. It's weird."
"Same time next week?" Shinigami-sama asks.
"Nah," says the Kishin. "I'll be on the moon."
