Favorite dessert:

Years ago, my good friend bought me a cake from Hy Vee for my birthday. (Okay, so it wasn’t a whole cake; it was more like a really large PIECE of cake). It had chocolate...frosting? and layers cemented together with cream. It was really rich and to die for. DIE. (There may have been cream cheese in it.)

But see, at the time, I didn’t have a Hy Vee near my house. I think I found this cake a couple more times, but that was basically it. Then when we did get a Hy Vee near my house, I went looking for this cake...AND IT WASN’T THERE! I either found nothing or cakes that were almost-but-not-quite-right. And I had no idea what this cake was even called.

The only other place I’ve seen this awesome cake is in the movie Hard Candy--I actually used to call it “Hayley-cake” after the character who was eating it (even SHE remarks how delicious the cake is):

I also love strawberry rhubarb pie. More recently, I was diagnosed with this esophageal thing (eosinophilic esophagitis is the name of it) and they found out I was allergic to a bunch of different foods--including MILK. I, uh, am not a huge stickler for avoiding all the stuff I’m allergic to (like TOMATOES. Tomatoes and milk. NOOOOOOO not my pizza!), but I did discover a new love of Oreo cookies.

Favorite color:

Purple! Nintendo once came out with a pink Nintendo DS that they marketed to girls, and I was all righteously offended (what? girls only like pink??). Except I forgot that my Game Boy Advance was purple. So was my GameCube, until it died. (My newer one is platinum.)

Favorite pairing:

There's a special place in my heart (MY HEART!) for Azula/Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender. There is no canonical evidence for this pairing whatsoEVER. There is no subtext. (So there's no way that this pairing would ever have to fit into canon--I don't have to worry about that!) It's like if Audrey Horne actually wanted to impress her father, and Ben was a ruthless KING instead of a ruthless businessman, and he committed all kinds of genocide, and Audrey was a horrible person because she wanted to be like her father and "Trust is for fools. Fear is the only reliable way" and took over a kingdom when she was, like, 14.

And then her friends were like: "Man, you're a horrible person. We're leaving." And then her dad was like: "Guess what? You get to run this country now! And by the way…that title I just gave you? It doesn't mean shit, because now I am something even better than king. Plus, I just negated all the stuff you did on behalf of this country. Also, I was manipulating you your whole life." *woosh* (Because Ben Horne can now fly.)

And then Johnny showed up to fight for the throne, because he REJECTED their asshole dad and decided to join the good people. And Audrey lost the fight, so Johnny is KING.

Then later she fell in love with….uh….someone who was was on the opposite side and was good, but could put her conscience in a box now and then. (Audrey Horne if she was…Audrey Horne? Enh, not quite. Toph doesn't translate well to Twin Peaks.) Maybe at first they/the world were in horrible danger and they needed each other to live even though they were like: "I HATE YOU" and were triggered by each other's existence. And maybe afterwards they were like: "That was terrible! Let us never speak of this again!" except they DO speak of it again, and have more adventures, and have some kind of understanding of each other (out of survival instinct possibly), and eventually are both HORRIFIED to realize they are in love/think each other is hot.

So, all kinds of wrong. But my love of bad cripples (and Toph and Azula are the WORST)/people with disabilities being all badass and interdependent together knows no bounds.

OH MY GOD THAT CAKE LOOKS AMAZING.

I just started watching Avatar and I am definitely not far enough along to know who those characters are but REST ASSURED, I will keep an eye out for them and their great love because this is the greatest summary of a relationship I have ever ever read. In my life. Ever. I don't know them and I kinda already ship them a lot. (Isn't that the best part of fandom? Subtext what subtext? They're standing in the same place of existence!)

THAT CAKE WAS AMAZING.

EEEE you're watching Avatar! Although NOOOO I just spoiled it pretty bad for you! But since I'm ruining everything already, you know the opening sequence when Katara is like: "Water. Earth Fire. Air"? That's Azula, helpfully demonstrating firebending. And the BIG DUDE doing earthbending is an old design for Toph. (She ended up a lot smaller, but is still a big dude.)

Don't worry! When people mention Audrey Horne, everything stops existing except Audrey Horne, so I don't know how much you've spoiled me. I love it so so so much though! It's so good!
