Summary: While on a mission in Japan, Soul takes Crona to a basketball game.
When Soul asks who zir favorite player is, Crona says, “I don’t know.” It’s a lie. Ze wishes Maka had come, but Soul’s a good friend, too, now. He doesn’t mind sitting together without talking and takes Crona to less-scary places than zir other friends. This basketball game, for instance, is at a small high school. And Seirin High’s number 11 is the smallest of all the players.
Crona doesn’t play basketball, not even when everyone begs zir because they need one more person. (“I’m two people,” ze says, and no one argues.) Ze’d much rather melt into the bench and watch.
Number 11, though, melts into the court.
“Cool!” Soul says when number 10 does another slam dunk.
“Yeah,” says Crona. It’s a lie.
Ze often disappears into walls, into chairs, looks at zir feet in hopes that people will go away. It works, a lot of the time. (Only Kid calls zir “Demon Swordsman”--ze’s glad he isn’t here.) But Crona’d never thought of it like...like number 11. It’s scary, but not in a bad way.
Ze wonders, idly, what it would be like to wait outside the locker room and grip number 11’s fingertips.
