Disjointed thoughts on the "Elementary" pilot (to be added as necessary)

Disclaimer: I am not an actual Sherlockian. I...watch the RDJ-Jude Law Sherlock Holmes movies casually, I guess? And the only Arthur Conan Doyle story I ever read was Lot No. 249 because I liked the adaptation in Tales From the Darkside: The Movie. (Steve Buscemi was in it, yo!)

• That opening scene was pretty gory. By which I mean it was pretty AND gory in a Dario Argento sort of way. *thumbs up*
• You guys! You guys! Sherlock is canonically asexual and kinky! Hell to the YES!
• "Helper monkey"? Good Lord, Sherlock, you are a fucking asshole. However, I think the show knows you're being an asshole. Joan definitely does.
• Related to the above: I haven't watched Monk since it was first on, but I like this dynamic between a disabled* detective and his assistant better. I dunno if it's because the show isn't winking at the "cuteness" of it or what.
• Semi-related: There's a prompt in the Elementary kink meme where Joan has PTSD, and another where Sherlock has bipolar disorder. YES PLZ. (Also, my brain may have combined these because...BADASS INTERDEPENDENCE!)
• "You are so full of it. You're just embarrassed because I figured out something that you couldn't, and now you're making it seem like you planned the whole thing." And then Sherlock MAKES THIS FACE:
  
  


• "It's so incredible, the way that you can solve people just by looking at them. I noticed you don't have any mirrors around here."

*Sherlock's addiction seems to be written as a disability, at least in the sense that he needs another person with him in situations where most other people don't.

Yes yes YES. Since you mentioned sub!Sherlock (YES PLZ), should I tell you that Sherlock-in-my-head is sometimes an asshole just so Joan can call him out?

I want ALL THE THINGS about Sherlock being a bratty asshole sub, and Joan going between either pretending to be annoyed (b/c she knows he's doing this on purpose) and actually being annoyed, b/c Sherlock does a good job of being an asshole.

Also, that ending=BEST ENDING. (Joan noticing the rice, which Sherlock didn't!) Except for the part where Joan was like: "You just said you're repulsed by sex because you're afraid of intimacy." THAT made me D:, because kinky asexual=YAY! (I could...pretend it didn't happen? Sherlock could totally be afraid of intimacy and also asexual, after all.)
