Thanks to [personal profile] glass_icarus, I am in love with Shikabane Hime (Corpse Princess) I mean, come on: badass women with machine guns! Badass women with swords and GLASSES! Gorgeously goretastic violence! Eee! (And Funimation has released the subbed version for free through various venues: their website, Hulu and YouTube).

There are three of us (hi, [personal profile] inkstone!), possibly four or five on the entire Internet, so I thought I get things rolling with a story, an icon and a tag. Ahem.

Assignment the Second is DONE! (with 45 minutes to spare) Go, me!

Naturally, it could be better. It needs, like, three more drafts and I'm not happy with the last third and I broke everything and I am the WORST ANONYMOUS EVER and the recipient will be like: "What is this crap?" But it's done and is the longest piece of fiction I've ever written so...cake!

ETA: Reading it over again, Assignment #2 isn't as horrible as I thought. It really does need another draft: there's one part in particular that could use more words. I'll have to do a director's cut later. But considering my fiction-writing skills at this point and the collision between my spatial impairment and one scene as well as A DAMN MOTIF, I did all right. (Lower your expectations! It's more fun!)

Now, because I totally deserve it, I'm off to read Of the Fruit (and not the Flower) (aka the Azuliad) by [personal profile] recessional. You probably definitely should, too. I'm not completely finished reading, but SWEET CEILING-CAT, this fic, you guys.

*cake for all*

Ahem.

I had to listen to Voltaire and, during breaks, "Friends on the Other Side" from The Princess and the Frog, for an extra kick in the pants. (ARE YOU READY?!) But now Assignment the Second is 1,000 words long. It's not time for cake, but maybe muffins.

*hands out virtual muffins*

Treat the Only: Done and handed in.

Assignment the Ever-Lovin' Second: The stuff I thought was definite totally isn't, and doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I did manage an insight into something yesterday (which developed into something more today), but the shape I REALLY wanted for the story won't work. I had thought the other shape would make it end less well, but maybe that's not true.

ETA: While [Agent Cooper] technically can go to [the Black Lodge] at this time, it would be very rude/strange, even for him. He could go at a different time, but it's very important that both [Leland Palmer] and [Sarah Palmer] are there. Without the special circumstances that make it unlikely for [Agent Cooper] to be there right now, I have no idea how this could happen.

I have three days to write something and no idea how it goes. But then I have lots of experience wandering lost. It'll be a surprise even to ME!

Since I am annoyed with all the fictional people who don't belong to me, it's time to steal a meme from all the cool people who did it first. Here is me, reading a ficlet:

Gaps [2 minutes, 20 seconds] (text).

If you listen very carefully at "There is a pause," you can hear my cat.

After reading How Do You Write So Fast? by [personal profile] synecdochic, I've been practicing turning off my inner editor and just writing to word goals. This way I can write 200 words a half hour, and they are not the most horrible words ever. Gaze upon all I have accomplished, Internet!

Things I have written )

I also use Ommwriter, a full-screen text editor that makes clicky noises when I type. (I'm a very auditory person; the clicky noises are an impetus to type more words).
terajk: Ryoga, grabbing Ranma by his pajama-top and shouting: "Do you remember where my house is?!" (toph fail)
I have always liked writing. The first things I wrote were "Roses are red/Violets are blue" poems like the ones I'd seen in Bugs Bunny cartoons. I wrote stories about a rabbit named Alice, who was a being very different from me that I was afraid I was. I wrote tons of stories that I never finished, getting lost in my own plot by page twenty--always page 20--in the same way I got lost in my own school.
